Head of the Chris...
Head of the Occoq...Hello, I am Arlo! I started rowing as a novice in fall of seventh grade after many years of dancing ballet. I started off rowing because some of my friends were doing it, but have stuck with it since then because I love the challenge, the people I have met, and what it has taught me. I have grown to love the sport and want to pursue a collegiate rowing career to spend as much time rowing as possible.
Although I can sweep on both sides, over the past few years I have been sculling. This has proven to be an excellent challenge and introduced me to new types of boats to learn and grow in, which has shown me new aspects of rowing that have only deepened my love for it. I have spent the last few racing seasons bowing quads and racing at the most competitive regattas my team offers, even qualifying for youth nationals this past year. I hope to further challenge myself and get even faster in the future.
Off of the water I am a dedicated student who is taking advantage of the rigorous courses that my school offers while maintaining a high GPA, both unweighted and weighted. I take both honors and AP classes and should be graduating with 11 completed AP courses. On top of that, I am a member of the National Honor Society and have spent my time doing additional volunteering. I am used to balancing a busy schedule and high workload while putting in high amounts of effort into all of my activities.
Rowing is a major part of my life and I am looking forward to continuing to challenge myself and find new opportunities within the sport. I hope to find a college and college team where I can grow in, learn more at, and contribute to. Thank you!
