I am a competitor both academically and athletically. My plan is to attend a college that offers both a top Environmental Engineering program and a competitive rowing team.
Academically, I challenge myself and often take the path less taken. For instance, rather than learning Spanish or French, I opted to take Chinese as my foreign language in an effort to gain a competitive advantage in the business world. I also select courses that will prepare me for my future major versus taking classes simply to boost my GPA.
Athletically, I was a competitive gymnast for years and decided to try rowing when the gyms closed during covid. I immediately fell in love with the sport. I will admit that the transition from gymnastics to rowing was often frustrating but I was determined and committed. Competing at the USrowing Youth Nationals less than 2 years after picking up an oar reaffirmed that hard work does pay off. In addition to pushing myself, I am a team player and am always there to encourage and assist my teammates.
My goal is to find a college where I can continue to grow and thrive in academics and rowing and be a part of a embracing community and supportive team.
