I was recently asked why I like rowing and my response was that I've been doing it for 3 years now and it has really helped me come out of my shell and it has helped me to build confidence in all aspects of my life.
Being a rower has changed my life in many ways and I aspire to be recruited and potentially awarded an athletic scholarship for rowing. I have found with rowing that I am competitive and driven to succeed individually as a member of a team. I learned leadership skills and mentoring skills and have volunteered at our local summer camp to introduce kids to rowing as a sport. I have previously been involved with the US Rowing Olympic Development Camp (ODP) and I will be attending the ODP camp again this summer (2022). I set goals for myself and work to achieve them, this is sometimes difficult for me as I have Dyslexia (processing issues), but instead of letting that limit me I find ways to work harder to achieve the goals I set.
