I started rowing and training with the St. Catharines Rowing Club, (SCRC) in the spring of 2021 after retiring from an 8-year competitive gymnastics career, where I finished 6 overall in the Gymnastics Ontario Championship. I was not able to compete in rowing that first summer as we transitioned from the COVID restrictions, but that fall I raced in a senior quad at the Head of the Five bridges in Welland Ontario Canada where we finished 5th in the U19 Womens Open Quad (2 U19 + 2 U17).
In school I am very focused on balancing my academic work with my busy rowing training schedule. I am a strong student with excellent grades and many academic and athletic awards. In my free time I offer to help to coach at my previous gymnastics club to develop new young athletes.
My first year was working and training with the U19 rowing team which helped me find success in my grade 9 year with a Silver medal (U17 Double) at the CSSRA Regatta in St. Catharines, 3rd place (U17 Single) in the Row Ontario Championships and a 4th place (U17 Double) at the Royal Henley Regatta in St. Catharines.
At the beginning of my grade 10 year, I was invited into the Row Ontario NextGen high performance program and train at their facilities in Welland Ontario Canada. I am a leader on the water and in the boat house and use my leadership abilities to build up others on my team as well as encourage my competitors. I pride myself on my level of dedication to training for the sport I love and being coachable, technical, and driven.
My recent year has seen me finish 1st place in the Row Ontario Small Boat Regatta in the U17 Open Weight Single. Gold in both the CSSRA Regatta in the U17 Open Womens Double and the Stotesbury Cup in the Open Junior Womens Double. 1st place in the Ontario Ergatta Champions U17 Junior High School Womens, LW 135 lbs.
I am excited to start to work toward a rowing career at the University level where I know I will be driven and pushed to succeed. With many top performances in my first 2 years of rowing, I continue to strive to improve and find new achievements to grow in my development.
