I want to continue rowing in college and at a higher level because of the immense support and strength I have received from my rowing communities. I want to keep waking up at 5am for morning practices, to spend weekends in the tanks and on the ergs, and most importantly keep spreading motivation, strength, and love for this sport despite its toughness. At Tabor Academy, I am 3 seat on our 4+ that went to Northeastern Championships, Head of the Charles and other races. I row 8+ shells in the spring on G1 that competes at the NEIRAs. But when I'm back in Shanghai, I am a top rower at my club, the retired varsity team captain of my middle school. My diverse rowing experience has taught me how to become a better rower for myself and for others, to feel passionate about making connections with people and always be excited for competition.
Now during off season, I erg and row in the tanks 6 days per week, with a steady 8-10km in to prepare for the spring season ahead. I also balance my academics with training, recommended by all subject teachers into Honors classes in freshman year and currently taking 4 honors classes and 1 AP class as a sophomore. I actively participate in innovation challenges like Conrad, essay competitions like John Locke(shortlist+merit for theology Q2, 2024), and summer programs(Brown pre-college on entrepreneurship,2024). I had a 2310, 98% for SSAT(Nov. 2023) and 1550 for SAT(Dec 7, 2024). I look forward to challenging my time management skills and am confident that I can enjoy rowing as much as I excel in academics in college.
