My present goal is to earn a medal in the Stotesbury Cup regatta in the Varsity 8 category. My long term goals and aspirations are to compete at a competitive D1 level in the top boat and become the best rower I can be for your team. I strive to reach my full potential in all that I do. I am a hard worker who is dedicated to the sport. I am coachable and I understand practices. I am different from other recruits because I have swam at a very competitive level for the past six years. I have won a State Championship in the 200 free-style relay where I also set the New Jersey State record with my teammates. I also rowed in a Stotesbury Cup final in the Freshman 8 and placed second overall. During my Freshman year, I also placed 3rd at the Scholastic National Championship.
I can be set apart from other athletes because I have put in tremendous hours in the pool, it has conditioned and trained me to be a better athlete, not only in the pool but on the water. Swimming has offered me the opportunity to perform under high pressure where I have been able to excel on my own. Swimming has conditioned me mentally to embrace the rigors of being an athlete. I understand the importance of the grind, training doubles on or in the water and on land for only a weekend of racing. I am 100% a team player and will do anything for my teammates. I am reliable and will always give it my all. I am currently the Captain of the Ocean City Girls Swim Team. Swimming has offered me the opportunity to gain confidence in my own athletic abilities, while crew has provided me with the amazing community and friendships that I was missing in swimming. I am truly happiest when I am at the river with my best friends, paddling down the race course. I love how friendly everyone is at crew races and how special and unique rowers are. I have a true love for the sport of rowing and I am eager to further my athletic and academic career.
