Sowmya Venkatesh_...I started rowing in September of my junior year, and it’s honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I currently row as a port for the Princeton National Rowing Association, but I have also raced as a starboard. Though I’m pretty new to the sport, I’ve already learned so much about pushing myself, staying consistent, and being part of something bigger than just me.
My goal is to row in college as part of a team where I can keep growing as both an athlete and a person. Outside of crew, I am a dedicated student with a strong academic record, balancing AP coursework with leadership roles in STEM-related extracurriculars. I currently have a 97.43 (100-point scale) GPA, a score of 35 on the ACT, and a superscore of 1540 on the SAT (790 math, 750 English).
Along with wanting to row on a collegiate team, I would like to also contribute to a culture where people push each other, show up for one another, and strive for something bigger. I’m excited to find a program where I can keep getting faster and make a real impact, both on and off the water.
