Personal Statement
Taking 1st with my team at the Sarasota Invitational in the Junior 4 as a sophomore, and acheving 2nd at the StotesBury Cup in the Junior 8 category as a junior coxswain, were the highlights of my high school career thus far. However, when reflecting upon the experiences I have had, I feel as though I grew the most as a member on my team when I didn’t get chosen to be in the Junior 4 for the Head of the Charles during my sophomore year on varsity. This experience really inspired me to push myself even harder, and gave me the opportunity to grow as an individual, as well as grow with the team. It helped me focus on the goals we had as a team, rather than myself, which ultimately I found is most important.
I was fortunate enough to be a part of an amazing award winning team in the past 3 years of my high school career, and looking forward to my senior year to grow and make a difference. Throughout the years I learned the value of each individual and the impact we could make coming together as one. I learned the commitment, sacrifice, and leadership it took to grow as a team. This especially was shown through the year of 2020 when we weren’t able to get on the water, or even when we didn’t know what was ahead in the future, or if we would be able to row together. I believe that I not only have the skills to compete for a college team, but additionally have the leadership, communication, and the commitment it takes to be an amazing coxswain, who would make an immediate impact joining your program. As a soon to be 3 year varsity coxswain on the Nardin Rowing team, I am committed to and know I have what it takes to be an outstanding leader on your team!
