Although I can't select it in my profile, I have both sweeping and sculling experience. On my school team in the spring of 2018, I swept both port and starboard in an 8+, as well as a 4+. I have been sculling with my current team, ACRA, since the beginning of fall season in 2017.
As a student athlete, I take both my rowing and my schoolwork seriously. Even with a rigorous practice schedule, I still keep good grades in high level classes, including AP courses.
Despite the fact that rowing has been a major commitment for me, I still believe in helping my community when possible. I have been a part of Girl Scouts since kindergarten in 2008, and I am still with the same Girl Scout troop to this day. The Girl Scouts have shaped me into who I am today, and for that I am forever grateful. Currently, I am working on my Gold Award Project.
Additionally, my family has been assisting the Rockland Emergency Homeless Shelter for over ten years. Every year around the holiday season, we put together gifts for the families living in the shelter. We also put together goodie bags for Halloween and Easter eggs for an egg hunt around Easter.
Helping others has always been super important to me in every aspect of my life: whether it be through helping out a teammate at practice, my work as a Girl Scout, providing tutoring for friends, or my volunteer work with the homeless shelter. I want to continue to help others in any way I can through every part of my life, way beyond high school and college.
