My name is Isabelle McGimsey and a 5’3” 122 lb women’s coxswain. In my novice year, I led our women’s boat to an undefeated season and our mixed boat to a gold at the Head of the Hooch Regatta. That was an incredible experience and has led me to set my goals high for the rest of my high school career. As I transitioned up to Varsity, I coxed the women’s 2v and quickly fought my way up to the 1v during my sophomore year, and have stayed there ever since. I am extremely driven, competitive, and focused on, and off the water. These characteristics have helped me throughout my coxing career. In the spring of 2017, I received the “Triangle Rowing Club Coaches Award” for my efficiency and organization. In the spring of 2018, I led our women’s 1V8+ to grand finals at USRowing Southeast regionals for the first time ever. In the spring of 2019, I coxed our Women's 1V8+ to US Rowing Youth Nationals! I am looking for the opportunity to find a college that will help me enhance my leadership skills and strengthen me as a coxswain. I feel committed to training not only to help my personal game, but to benefit the entire team.
I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the water, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend.
