As a coxswain, my goal isn’t necessarily winning, but supporting my teammates. Of course I would like to win, but it’s more important to me that my teammates feel good about how they performed in a race. I do best as a quiet leader. When the time comes in practice, a race, or outside of sports altogether, I’ll step up. However, I’m also content to allow others to figure things out on their own. I try to cater my leadership to the boat I’m coxing. Not everything works for each person, and I understand that. I try my best to figure out what motivates and helps each of my teammates. Pursuing my passions, I decided to attend a school of arts for my junior and senior year. However, I’m looking to study history in college. All in all, my reality is that I find joy in helping and supporting others, in whatever setting that may be.
