I've been very athletic since I was young, starting with gymnastics, to soccer and hockey which I played for a few years, and I've just crossed over from competitive cycling to rowing. I got more serious about my athletics when I began training for cycling when I was around 11 years old, looking up to my brother who was training very hard for the World Track Championships. I achieved high levels in cycling, including becoming the provincial road champion, taking first in the time-trial season, and winning gold and silver in the International Tour de Rimouski. I started rowing as I was introduced to the sport by a friend a little less than a year ago, and I've been very passionate about the sport ever since. I now train nearly every day, all year long, with the intent of rowing a single, as well as a couple crew boats this summer in some of the largest races (ie., Royal Canadian Henley, Head of the Charles). I only find satisfaction from a sport when I commit fully and push myself to new limits which shows through my training and discipline. With only a few month of rowing experience, I competed last year in the Head of the Charles Regatta.
Aside from rowing, I'm a very studious person, I currently have a 92% average. One of my main collegiate aspirations is to attend medical school and pursue a career within the field of medicine. I take school just as seriously as my athletics, as I know my long-term future will be shaped by my academic achievements. I take an extracurricular math course, as well as a Mini-medical school program. I consider myself to be a fairly well-rounded person, as I also like to spend my time taking art classes and programs, and work a part-time job as a cook in a food market. I am also a francophone (my mother is French-Canadian), I did all my elementary schooling in french, and am fluent in Spanish after spending five months in Spain in a fully Spanish high school on a scholarship. I've always liked to challenge myself physically, academically and culturally. I am motivated, academically oriented, excelling in sports my whole life, hard-working, and a well-balanced individual.
