Hello, I'm Sierra Kelly, a 17-year-old rower from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
I was introduced to rowing during the COVID pandemic when there were few options for youth to be involved in athletics. Most of my childhood was spent under the water, as a competitive swimmer. For 8 years, I was well versed in the rigorous training routine, early mornings, strength training, and busy competition schedule. Juggling the demands of both academics and high-performance sports was my life. The transition from under the water to on top of the water was relatively smooth. Starting in a learn-to-row program with Niagara Falls Rowing Club, I quickly developed a passion for rowing. I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by teammates who push me to be the best version of myself daily.
In addition to being a high-performing athlete, I prioritize my scholarly achievements and community involvement. I’m an honors student who is involved in many leadership activities. I’m a trained National Lifeguard and Swim Instructor who is passionate about sharing my love for the water. I’ve spent the past two summers growing and mentoring youth swimmers in my role as Head Coach of the Niagara on the Lake Swim Team.
I aspire to study Exercise/Health Science and pursue a career in Sports Medicine. I’m looking for a school that equally prioritizes athletic and academic success. I want to be a part of a collegiate rowing team that pushes each other to the max!
