Hello, I am Kennedy Bartel. I am the class of 2026 and currently attend Eden High School. I am hoping to continue my rowing experience throughout University/College. I first started rowing just before going into high school in a "learn to row" program. The second I started I fell in love with the sport as my father and my brother also had. In 2022 I started my first competitive season at St. Catharines Rowing Club and the November of the same year I started my first season rowing with my school. I have been in many different boats such as 8+, 4+, 4x, 2x, and 1x. I can scull as well as sweep on both port and starboard.
Rowing has become more than a sport to me. During my time as a rower, I have learned many things. These include leadership, sportsmanship, and the importance of teamwork. I have also learned many skills such as how to be independent, dedicated, and resilient. I have been training at least 6 days a week for the past 2 years throughout many different rowing seasons. I have been able to learn how to have deep trust in my teammates during practices and races. I played hockey for 10 years before I started rowing as well as doing Highland Dance for 10 years as well. I am very familiar with being in a team setting and having to work together with my teammates.
