Personal Statement

Signed to Saint Marys College of California.

Hi, I’m Ava. I’m 17 years old, and I have been rowing since March of 2021. Before rowing I was a competitive swimmer for seven years. When I was first introduced to rowing I automatically loved it. It has been my goal to continue rowing in college and to continue to improve and reach my goals through the sport.

Rowing has helped push me to become a better version of myself. It has helped me learn time management, dedication, hard work, and continues to push me out of my comfort zone. It has also given me opportunities to create goals and go after those goals. Changing from an independent sport to being apart of a team has also taught me a lot. Being apart of a team has taught me what leadership looks like, and what it means to be a positive team member. I want to continue to push myself to become the best rower I can be, as well as the best teammate.
