Hello! I am Zoe Kelly, a coxswain and former rower of 3 years. Following a back injury and subsequent surgery in 2023, I made the transition into coxing. As a novice coxswain in my 2023 season, I quickly established myself as a desirable coxswain within my club, due to my calming yet persistent nature when working with my athletes. Keeping athletes calm and motivated while racing, rather than stressed both mentally and physically, is a major facet of what makes a coxswain successful. Bringing these values from practice to erg tests to races has allowed me to develop into a confident and understanding coxswain.
Further distinguishing myself from other recruits, I am also a USRowing certified coach. I have coached our "technical team" for 3 seasons. This team focuses on teaching both middle and high school students to row from any level of experience. My experience as a coxswain has helped me develop into a confident coach, whose athletes have gained success and moved onto a higher level of club rowing.
Academically, I am a very determined and high-achieving student. As I take numerous AP and honors courses, while also maintaining my coaching and training schedule, I am a well-organized and confident student. I strive to better myself through education, and continuing my rowing career at the collegiate level would be an extremely beneficial experience.
