Hello coaches. My name is Sal Stegmaier, and I am a class of 25’ rower from Burke, Virginia. I would be a good candidate for your team because I am a team player, and I try to motivate my team as much as possible, from after a hard piece, to taking the boat up the hill after. I stay organized, and I make sure that everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing. I am able to keep my grades up with extracurriculars, and I keep myself calm in crazy situations.
I started rowing freshman year, and have been dedicated to the sport since. Rowing has made me realize the potential I really have, from winning state championships in both my freshman and sophomore year, to getting sub 8 minutes on my 2k two years in a row. This year I joined Resilient Rowing, a competitive racing club, which allowed me to take great strides, and strokes, in my development as an athlete. I was able to travel to many regattas, such as Club Nationals, Head of the Charles, and Head of the Hooch, all experiences which I will never forget.
As a Junior, I have currently taken 10 honors classes, an AP class, and two DE classes, with big plans for my future education. I love reaching out to different activities, and trying new things. I am in my school's Personal Fitness class, where I am constantly working towards my strength and fitness goals. I am proud of my improvement, and I’m so excited to see where my numbers can go. With an amazing end to the fall, I am excited for winter conditioning to pick up in the next coming weeks. I plan on running for captain of my team in my senior year. Although my high school years are coming to an end, I know in my heart this is only the beginning.
I am excited to hear from you all!
