I started rowing the fall of 2016, & started coxing at the beginning of spring 2017. I took my team's WN4+ to VASRA Lower Boat States; we took 2nd in our heat & 5th in finals. I coxed the MV8+ (B) at HOTO that following fall; our time rivaled that of last year's men's 8. I coxed our M2V4+ that spring & we got 3rd place in EVSRA. That following summer, I also began to cox for HRRC. We took a WM8+ & a Mixed Masters 8x to the Beak of the Chick. Since then, I've regularly coxed for the women's crew. I also spent much of winter season (2018-2019) coxing both a men's & women's octuple. In the spring of 2019, I coxed the ML4+. We got 3rd place at regional championships in the MJ4+ category, & ribboned at many other smaller regattas.
As a coxswain, my favorite thing to do is teach. I want my teammates to improve. I also want my team to respect me as a coxswain. On race day, I want them to have the utmost faith in me. Over the past few years, I've learned everything I can about coxing & crew. I do all of the workouts that I can. I would much rather earn my team's respect than demand it.
I am an IB student, so time-management is essential; I balance practice 6 days a week with the rigor of the IB curriculum. I love to learn new things & be able to teach them to others. I'm a fast learner who is very passionate about what I do.
Crew is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I would be honored to continue it on the collegiate level.
