Hi Coaches!
My name is Sydney Warren and I’m a member of the class of 2026 at Northside Methodist in Alabama. I first started playing soccer at the Family Y when I was three years old. I was able to join rec soccer in the 2nd grade which I did until I joined a local travel team when I was 10. I played with them until I started high school when I decided I wanted to get serious about my training. There weren’t many trained soccer coaches in my town so I started looking at other clubs.
My freshman year I started with Alabama FC South in Montgomery, AL which is about a two-hour drive each way. It was a really great experience because our coach was one of the coaches with a D1 college there in Montgomery. My sophomore year I stayed with AFC South but with a new coach who had to leave in the middle of the semester. I currently play for Yellowhammer FC which is also located just outside of Montgomery and travel to practice twice a week. I’ve also played school soccer since 7th grade and I’ve been on varsity since 9th grade. Last year I was selected to be part of the AL ODP G07 team that played in Memphis.
I’m really dedicated to soccer, but I also play other sports to stay in shape. I wouldn’t trade my time on the field for anything; I absolutely love it! I think one of my strengths is being coachable because I love feedback and want to help my team the best way that I can. And although my primary position is right wing, I often go where the coach needs me regardless if it’s defense or midfield.
On weekends when I’m not playing, I referee at tournaments in Alabama and other states, and that experience has really changed how I see the game and made me a better player. I would love to play in college because I’m not ready to hang up my cleats just yet. Being able to continue playing soccer in college while pursuing a degree in early special education would be a dream come true. My experience over the past few years with my new team has just really reignited my love for soccer! I've put so much into this sport, and my passion for it is huge. I would do anything to take my game to the next level!
