My name is Lauryn Miller. I am a student at Rowland High School who will be graduating in 2027. I have a 4.11 GPA and am currently starting on the Varsity soccer team as a sophomore captain. I am also a member of the Strikers FC Elite 64 G07/08 team where I also start.
Soccer is not just a sport to me; it's a part of me. I've been playing soccer since I was 6 years old, beginning with AYSO and now playing at both the club and high school levels. Soccer has allowed me to have fun, build friendships and relationships with others, and learn positive life skills that I can take with me in any environment I find myself in.
What sets me apart from other soccer players is my ability to take constructive criticism and use it to refine my skills and get better. Feedback is important to me because it allows me to see things from another perspective, in order for me to grow and get to the next level. In addition to feedback from coaches, I pride myself in taking time after games to watch film. Watching film helps my understanding of the game and allows me to pinpoint my strengths and weaknesses on the field in real time. I take soccer very seriously and am determined to continue to improve, which means listening and working as hard as I can in order to reach my goal of playing at a high level in college. No matter what, I am ready for whatever it takes to achieve this.
I've learned how to be a leader and step up, not only for myself but for my team. As a captain, I've learned that it isn't just important for me to do well, but for the team to do well, which is why I strive to get better so that I help myself and my team out. I will always push myself to be better because I know I am capable of doing whatever I believe I can do, and I am working on the mental strength that will allow me to achieve all my goals.
