I come from a family of educators, so it should not be surprising that I would aspire to follow in their footsteps. I have always felt most comfortable working with elementary age kids, which I have had the opportunity to do for the past 3 years at Summer Art Academy (as a camp counselor). My parents have been a constant source of encouragement and positivity when it comes to following the goals I am most passionate about. The same goes for soccer, I have been playing since I was four years old with many of the years in a recreational league. My mother was very understanding and let me play just because I loved it, but when she saw the true fire in my eyes she motivated me for more competitive play, so we went Club. Ever since, soccer has been more than a hobby: it’s been a way to make bonds with teammates, a way to show my family all my hard work, and something to look forward to when I’ve had a bad day. No matter where I was in life, soccer has always been there for me which made me want to give 110% at every practice, game, and scrimmage. However, there are times when I realize that I need to take a step back and realign my academics if they start to take a backseat role. Overall, I have found a natural balance between the things that will be important to me and the things that are important to me now, which will aid in providing a clear path for my future.
