Personal Statement

Thank you for visiting my NCSA page. Here is my story in 30 seconds!

When I was 6 years old, I asked my parents if I could play soccer. From the beginning, I could tell there was something special about the game. I joined a local recreation league team, learned the rules and fundamentals and quickly became hooked. Recreation soccer then turned into travel soccer, then EDP and then the ECNL. The rest is history….

As I got older, some people told me that because of my height (not my skills), I could not play at a high-level and coaches would look past me for different soccer opportunities. Their doubts motivated me and only made me stronger. I realized early on that I would have to work harder than most, train with the best GK coaches and work on my skills independently so I could help my team achieve their goals. My GK coaches believed in me and helped me to become PPT-Physical, Proficient and Tenacious! These traits gave me life on the field. As the only keeper on my ECNL team, I was thrilled to contribute to my team's success and receive personal accolades along the way (which you can read more about in my NCSA profile).

The obstacles I faced also helped me develop important leadership skills and a passion for volunteerism. Off the pitch, I am the chair of the African-American student organization at my school and I've volunteered at Open Door Sports-a summer soccer camp for children with disabilities. These experiences have given me a strong sense of humility and teamwork which I realize are important traits to have in both sports and life.

Today, I'm proud to be a St. John College High School Cadet. My high school goals are simple: be an honor roll-level student and help our soccer team be as successful as a we possibly can (team academic recognition, conference and state championships, National TDS FAB 50 team). Along the way, I will continue to improve my soccer skills so I can continue to help my ECNL club team achieve our goals too. After high school, I want to attend a college/university with a balance of academic rigor, competitive athletics and personal growth opportunities that will help me prepare for my future. And, of course, help the school's team however I can to achieve our goals and objectives.

Thanks again for your interest. Enjoy my profile and please stay in touch!
