Personal Statement
McKenzie Solomon, Goalkeeper | Class of 2022 | Tophat U15 DA
I enjoy being around athletes and working with others towards a common goal. I have a passion for competitive sports and have decided to focus my athletic abilities on soccer and goalkeeping. I am looking for a college program that is highly committed to intense daily training, challenging player development and growing their goalkeeper's role as a key part of their overall strategy. I am driven to always give my best and push my team to do the same while exemplifying integrity both on and off the field. I want to continue my development each day by pushing myself in training and by surrounding myself with other top athletes and coaches that will challenge me to grow as a player and a person.
My commitment to both athletics and academics is demonstrated by my academic success as well as playing multiple sports. Most days, I attend practices for over 4 hours a day. I currently play three high school sports with 2 hours of daily workouts followed by soccer training with my DA club 4-5 days a week for 2.5 hours each day (1 hour of GK training followed by 1.5 hours of team practice). I have learned to make the best use of my time throughout the day in order to manage my sports training as well as academics so I can maintain my 4.0 GPA in honors and AP classes. I also make it a priority to spend time with my family and church small group, as they help me to keep it all in perspective.
