Hello, my name is Samantha Diaz, I’m 17 years old. I am a senior at Jacobs High School and I am on the girls varsity soccer team. I fell in love with soccer when my dad registered me to play soccer for the park district. I have been playing travel soccer for 10 years. Through soccer, I have met great coaches, teammates, and through those connections, I have been able to develop into the soccer player that I am today. Having played soccer for different travel soccer clubs has taught me teamwork, responsibility, consistency, communication, focus and confidence. Playing soccer in college is my ultimate goal and achieving that objective is important to me. I know that being a great soccer player is not good enough to get into a renowned university. Therefore, I have committed myself to getting good grades in school and although I have had my shortcomings, this has only serviced as a reminder to me of my goal. I would love to attend a college that can provide to me good education and the privilege to play the sport that I love. I think that if I did not have the support of my mom who drives me everywhere, my dad and sister who help me with the game, I would not be able to sustain my dream of playing soccer in college and for that I am filled with gratitude.
