Personal Statement
We are 2021 Sectional and Regional Champions! I was voted BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER as a sophomore and also received the Student Leadership Award. This year I am Captain of our varsity squad. I believe that I am a strong academic and athletic student who will make a positive team impact from day one on a college team.
I am a 5'10" attacking, center midfielder (and sometimes forward) who really loves the camaraderie of playing on a team. I enjoy school and sports, and have been recognized as a leader by my teachers and coaches. I am searching for an undergraduate school where I feel like I BELONG, culturally, academically and athletically.
I love adventure, which is why I like traveling in new and foreign places. I have a strong work ethic, and I'm a lot of fun, both on and off the field. I believe my discipline will help me transition to the speed of play at the college level. Last fall, 2020, Covid 19 protocols at my high school threatened to limit in-person classes and available AP and Honors classes. I was fortunate enough to be able to tranfer to a nearby high school in order to attend in-person and continue taking AP and Honors callses. Transitioning in the middle of high school was hard, and I think that I have demonstrated resilience and ability to rise to the challenges.
My soccer coaches will hopefully agree that I am tactically smart, quick and "coachable". I have had competitive experience in multiple positions and am a versatile player. Last year I was awarded high school best offensive player and was the leading scorer for my team (half of those goals being headers). Of all sports, I enjoy soccer most because it's a team sport and I enjoy the success of my teammates as much my own.
Like my drive to be the best teammate possible on the field, I am self-motivated to achieve academically as well, maintaining a 4.0+ GPA (and have been Top 25 all three years). I was also awarded a Student Leadership Award as a sophomore.
I have had the opportunity to talk with a few coaches and I really appreciate the opportunity to develop a connection and explore the philosophy and culture of their soccer programs. Thank you for considering me to be a member of your team.
