Personal Statement
It's hard to believe soccer wasn't always my favorite sport. Nowadays, I can't seem to imagine where my life would be without it. As a kid, my parents were those who signed me up for every sport and soccer wasn't always my priority. But the more I grew as a person, the more I realized how big of an impact soccer had on my life. The passion I had for soccer going into my freshman season is nothing compared to the love I have for this sport now.
My school's program isn't anything special, in fact we just had our first winning season, in who knows how many years. Most players on teams that aren't as talented find it difficult to have that drive to win and to battle with good teams. That's where I stand out. I know what it's like to lose, but I also know how to compete to the best of my ability and to set the bar for my fellow teammates in order to win. My sophomore year, I was awarded MVP, All Conference, and Defensive Player of the Year. My junior year, I lead my team to the Sectional Championship as team captain. This sport has taught me the value of commitment and hard work and reflects on my everyday life, including academically. I couldn't maintain a 4.0 GPA without these character traits, and I hope to be able to use them to impact a program beyond high school.
