I originally joined my local soccer club at 7 years old because my parents thought it was important for me to stay in shape during the offseason of basketball. My enjoyment of basketball has never decreased but my love of soccer has steadily grown for the last 10 years and has surpassed basketball by far. I enjoy the feeling of being part of a team in both sports but our soccer club really has a culture of being a family and also stresses the importance of being a good person. This same feeling continues though our high school team and coaching staff. Our high school team has also been expanded by foreign exchange students. I have had the chance to play with girls from Germany, France, Netherlands, and Japan. Although their skill levels have varied, our team always welcomes them with open arms.
Outside of sports, I have participated in Girl Scouts for 7 years, school band for 4 years, taken guitar and ukulele lessons for 5 years and am currently working as the manager of the Anytime Fitness in our town. I also take classes from our local community college because our district does not offer many AP or Honors classes. These activities have taught me valuable lessons about time management, creativity, maintaining good personal relationships, and the importance of giving back to the community.
Our family also likes to travel around the US and I have learned a lot about areas of the country from that. Last summer I had the opportunity to visit Japan for 10 days with a group from my high school who were all in good academic standing.
