My freshman year of High School, we were barely making the cut off to have a team. We had no seniors. We started 9 freshman, one including me, and 2 upperclassman. Our record wasn't what we had hoped, but it pushed us harder. That was a turning point for us. As a team, we decided that we first needed to get more people to compete with us whether they had played or not. Coming back my sophomore year, we had enough to field 2 teams because we recruited hard. Our record improved, but we fell short of making the state tournament. I decided that I personally needed to train harder in order to help improve my team. I joined a more elite club who trained hard. While training, they talked about getting our high school teams in an indoor league to improve together. This winter, just before junior season, I decided that my team could benefit from this league and everyone else agreed.
Over the past couple seasons, I've learned to overcome adversity. Not only did we have no seniors and only 1 junior my freshman year, but that year I tore my quad. I played 4 weeks of the season with a torn quad before I could no longer go. Through that tough season, I learned determination, staying strong, and leadership is what you need to form team work. These are all skills I would love to take to a college team. With my energy, skills, and leadership, I would be perfect for your team!
