Hi! My name is Lauren Mitchell. I am currently a Junior in High School and I am interested in playing soccer in college. I started playing soccer at 5 years old. The first time I stepped on the field, I immediately fell in love with the sport. I played town soccer for 3 years, getting touches on the ball in my spare time. When I was 8, I joined my first club team. I have been playing club and town soccer year-round since then. Three years ago, I started my high school soccer journey. As a middle-schooler, in eighth grade, I played on the JV team for Stoughton High School and I have played as a starting Varsity player my Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years. Waking up and knowing that I get to go play soccer every day is an opportunity that I will always be grateful for. I love the game of soccer. I love the camaraderie it creates and the joy it gives me daily.
As soon as my feet touch the field, everything else that is going on in my life disappears, and I focus on the game or practice that is ahead of me. On the field, I am very competitive. I always want to win and that is one of the reasons I love soccer so much-for its competitiveness. I am very coachable and I love getting feedback so that I am able to improve my game. I am also a great teammate, as I work to lift my team members up on the field by supporting them with my soccer plays and through providing constructive criticism and direction. My preferred position is as a center back but coaches have relied on me to play outside back and defensive mid as well. I will always give 110% on the field, no matter the circumstances.
Although soccer is such a valuable aspect of my life, I recognize how important school and my studies are as well. I always strive to get that A+ and if I am not on the soccer field, you can usually find me in my room, with my computer and books open studying. I am currently taking all honors and AP classes. Outside of school and soccer, I love helping people out. I have volunteered for the annual food drive at my church for the past two years, and I am always willing to assist younger kids with school or soccer needs. In college, I am considering a major in the field of criminal justice or political science on my way to law school. The values that I have learned on the soccer field have definitely led me to develop the qualities that I will need to succeed in these areas.
