Personal Statement
My goal is to receive a Psychology major and then continue on to get a graduate degree to work as a child therapist. I absolutely love to play soccer and hope to continue my playing career while I am in college! I am a versatile athlete that plays many positions on the field based on the need of the team, currently I am playing left back for my Cap City club team and on my high school varsity team I play left forward. This year I made team captain on my club team. On the field I am driven to be an asset to the team. I continuously look for opportunities to learn new skills and improve it is important to me to continue to develop skills in communication, field vision, leadership, speed, defending, and passing. It is also important to me to be a positive influence on the team because I believe in honor and respect on and off the field and always conduct myself in this manner.
My passion for soccer started in the first grade. At the time AYSO didn’t have enough coaches so my parents signed up to coach. Together we learned the game and developed a passion for soccer that burns strong to this day. When I am on the soccer field I feel like everything else falls away and I get to focus on my game and think of new ways to help my teammates or get them involved in the attack. 2019 was a challenging season and I have learned some valuable lessons. I joined a new team where I was playing a new position full time at the national level so I had to earn my starting spot on the team. I never gave up and by the end of the season I finally earned a starting position as well as the teams respect and this year I became that teams captain. It was my passion for soccer that kept me driven to achieve a higher level of play. I am always looking for feedback to improve my skills on and off the field and I am the type of player that seeks advice as often as I can. I realize I have so much to learn but I also know through perseverance I can achieve anything I set my mind to, even if I have failures along the way.
