Hello, my name is Victoria Christina Ivens, I am currently 15 years of age, and undergoing 11th grade this year. My GPA is currently 3.2 unweighted and this is my third year in high school as a Girls Varsity soccer player, as well as my third year as a regular highschool starter.
Now that I've covered simple introductions, I’d like to share a bit about myself and who I am as a player… as well as share my morals and aspirations for the future.
Soccer for me, is a sport that’s won my heart. I carry a passion for it as if it's the center of my entire being. Though… I haven’t felt this was about the sport consistently. When I first started club soccer at the young age of five, I never could have imagined the love and obsession for soccer that would follow. As of current, there isn’t a single day that goes by without me envisioning plays during class, or messing around with every random circular object I encounter. That’s just how it is, like when I said I had an obsession…I meant it wholeheartedly.
As a person, I am extremely outgoing. Talking to new people or giving my outright opinion has never been a difficult task for me. I have been told by my coach that I do carry a bit of egotism around (which I won’t deny), however, it’s never been a problem for myself or those around me. I think it's more of a pro as contrasted to a con. My coaches believe that I have just the right amount of confidence to be greatly effective on and off the ball. During my matches, I often find myself getting rather creative. By that, I mean I enjoy trying new things and experimenting when the moment hits me. This often leads to finding unexpected alternative routes to certain plays that normally end in success, although, failure is sometimes inevitable. Naturally, I learned to acknowledge my failure and move on, which in my opinion, is the most important thing one can do as an athlete. I want to be a player that people can look up to, and aspire to be, and by following my morals, hopefully I can achieve this soon.
I don’t know if it’s been apparent enough, but I have high aspirations for my future. I wish to go D-II or D-I for college, which requires a lot of time and devotion to the sport which I am more than willing to give. As of current, I’m debating whether to pursue medical or law school…though I am leaning a bit more toward law ( as I am extraordinarily afraid of needles). However, It is a personal dream of mine to go professional for soccer, so I intend on following that dream as long as it takes me.
My passion and dedication will take me far one day, so until then…I will continue to work hard and expect the best.
Yours truly,
-Victoria
