Personal Statement
My name is Katelyn Grace Howe. I am in 12th grade at Red Wing High School, class of 2023. I am now searching and applying to colleges starting Spring of 2022. I will also be taking the ACT in the Spring of 2022. I want to attend a military academy to play soccer or a 4-year college.
Since age nine, I have played association soccer and Red Wing High School soccer since 7th grade. I have played many positions, including defender, midfielder, attacking midfielder, and goalie. I am very versatile and love the great experiences of the whole field. I have lettered for the last three years. Soccer is my dream and the best sport. I have always wanted to continue this sport in my college career.
My academic career has focused on the STEM field. I have been in many AP classes and Honor programs. My GPA is 4.01, and I have a work ethic to maintain through graduation in 2023. I am currently on Student Council, National Honor Society, Key Club, and now at the Red Wing High School leadership program. I have served many volunteer hours in the following areas, Teen Life, USAFA Club of MN, Cancer Walks, Food Shelf, and Cystic Fibrosis fundraisers.
Some fun facts about me are that I'm a student pilot. Learning how to fly is very interesting to me. I love to try new things and learn new skills, so when I had the opportunity to become a pilot, I took it. I also love to travel, so becoming a pilot is a good thing to travel when I get my own plane in the future. Another interesting fact about me is I'm a certified lifeguard who works at our public water park during the summer. I love to do physical activities, fitness and become more healthy. I am also a sideline soccer referee, giving me a competitive advantage in playing and knowing the sport. I am a three-sport athlete. My other sports are basketball and track.
I have the determination and strong will to always be the best on and off the field. In everything I do to serve others, character and excellence have been what I live my life by. I am looking for that in a college and a soccer team. I am open to any discussion to get me to the next step in my soccer/college career.
