I am Mia Martin and I am from St. Louis, Missouri. I am a sophomore in high school and I’m looking to continue my soccer career in college. In the fall of 2019, I played right midfield and right wing back for Lou Fusz Geerling. However, I have also played forward and was named to The Best XI for the Midwest Conference in 2018 as such while leading the conference in goals with 8 in seven games. In the summer of 2018 we won the Missouri State Cup. In the summer of 2019, we won the Midwest Regional Championship. I led my team in goals during the tournament and scored the title clinching PK in the 2nd overtime. We then went on to the National Title game only to lose 2-1 to D'feeters from Texas. That season was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.
My club team name has changed to Sporting STL and we currently compete in the Girls Academy League in the Frontier Conference. I was recently voted the GA League team representative by my teammates. I was selected to the Varsity squad as a freshman and named a starter for my high school team, St. Joseph’s Academy. Due to Covid, I did not have the opportunity to play.
St. Joseph’s Academy is a college prep school with a strong academic program. I earned a 3.8 GPA while taking courses like Mandarin Chinese and accelerated Algebra. I am now taking Honors Physics and Advanced Algebra 2 and Trig. along with Honors Mandarin Chinese.
I am looking for a school that would give me a good balance of strong academics and soccer. I like to be a leader on the field and I would love to go to a school where I will be able to continue that role. I am leaning towards a D1 school but have an open mind about any school that would fit my academic and athletic goals.
