Personal Statement

My name is Addie Slaughter and I will be graduating in 2024.  I am born and raised in Great Falls Montana and my primary position is holding midfield although I am a versatile player and have also played left or right outside back.   I have dreamed of playing college soccer for as long as I can remember. Soccer is a huge part of my life, and I can't imagine not playing at some capacity after I go to college.  Soccer has taught me that my attitude and effort are two things I can 100% control when I play.  I have experienced some amazing wins and some heart breaking loses and have learned equally from these victories and defeats.  Personally, I feel how hard you work in the off season will make a huge impact on your game.  Over the past 2 years I have found a passion for weightlifting when I signed up for Coach Tchida's athletic weightlifting class my sophomore year of high school.  He has taught me how to push my limits both mentally and physically to achieve my goals of getting stronger and building muscle.  I have been training with a technical development program called Grassroots during the off season for the past 5 years which focuses on increasing my quickness, improving my foot skills and scrimmaging against highly skilled players. My coaches would describe me as hard working, coachable, competitive and a leader on and off the field.  I have been the captain of my high school team both my sophomore and junior seasons.  I was picked for this role by both my peers and coaches which is a huge honor for me. I believe in leading my example and I always try to give 100% in my academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. I have guest played with soccer clubs from around the state and also out of state which has taught me to be adaptable to playing different positions and learning different coaching styles. I feel my greatest strength is my vision of the field and quickness.  My goal after graduating is to get a top-notch college education while continuing to play the sport that I love.
