Personal Statement
Making the high school varsity soccer team as a freshman, starting every game and playing each game in its entirety was a great beginning to my high school soccer career. We didn't win many games during my freshman and sophomore years, but they were probably some of my best years of soccer development from a mental standpoint. It taught me that no matter how intensely you train and play, the result of a hard fought game might not always go your way yet you still play through the frustration. It taught me that I had mental toughness, the skills, the physicality and the self-confidence to compete against older, bigger and better teams. Now as an upperclassman, I know I have to use my past experiences to focus on what is possible and pass on my attitude & drive to my fellow teammates. I believe my leadership on my team has allowed me to become both a better teammate and person on and off the field, and I can already see the results in my team as we begin the current season.
As a year round athlete, I know what is takes to make a good student-athlete; time management, determination, hard-work & consistent effort. I am looking for a college that takes care of not only the athlete but the student as well. Yes, playing soccer in college is a big deal for me however I need to know that the college I eventually choose has an amazing academic program as well as an amazing soccer team.
