Personal Statement
My name is Leslie Surita and I am a Junior at Clifton High School. I am one of the few selected to play for the high school varsity team. While high school team is off I play for the 2006 Cedar Stars Academy Bergan GA League. I am the starting goal keeper for both teams. Two years ago I had to overcome some tremendous obstacles in my life, and am happy to share with you all. In August 2020 I tore my Left ACL. Doctors told me that I would be out for 8 months to a year. For me that was not an option. Not because I did not want to listen but because soccer is my life. I pushed myself every day harder and harder. At 6 months I got cleared to play 1 week before my high school season started. I don’t talk about this often to anyone but I am Dyslexic.I wrote the book titled “ My Journey w Dyslexia” I am happy to tell everyone that being different is good. With all the proper tools that I have in my life I was able to overcome that and be that independent student that I always desired to be. Through this program and your support I hope to find the perfect school so that I can continue to further my soccer and academic career. Here’s to a new chapter of my life. Let’s do this! Soccer is life!
