My name is Keira Johnson, through many years of playing soccer I had the best opportunity to go to Nationals in Colorado. It was an amazing experience and part of the reason I love this sport so much, to have these opportunities and successes with my team.
I was fortunate enough to be a starting player on the Varsity team all three years of high-school, as well as having the opportunity to be Captain my Junior year and my Coach has discussed a role as captain for me, my senior year.
Leadership is something that is extremely important to me as a player and given the opportunity to lead my team on and off the field is very valuable to me. I feel that leadership comes with many responsibilities and not only is something I show on the soccer field but in any environment.
Throughout the years I have learned many things about myself through playing this sport. I am a very competitive player and can tend to get down on myself if a mistake is made. This is something I am glad to say I've overcame because it allowed my confidence to be boosted on the field and I feel having confidence is something that reflects on your play. I could describe myself as a very strong, dedicated, and hard-working player on the soccer field, because no matter what happens I always push through and take the extra steps to make myself a better player. I make sure that my teammates are okay because as important as the game itself is, I find the connection with your team and coaches is just as special and significant.
My goals for continuing my soccer career into college is finding a school that is fit for me academically and athletically. I am looking for a school that I can pursue my dream going into the medical field as well as playing the sport I love. I feel that my personality off the field is something that helps me on the field as well, having an outgoing and positive personality allows me to adapt to new environments well and that has for sure helped me with switching teams throughout the years and made me more comfortable with getting to know new people.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement, please feel free to contact me.
