Personal Statement

I'd rather the pain of discipline than the pain of regret- Leah Garcia, is a quote I live by and use as a constant reminder that I always have to put 100% into anything I do, in order for it to be worth while. As a Latina  girl soccer player I will add leadership to whatever soccer team I am so humbly a part of, and I will empower other females on my team,  lead them on the field, and I will encourage them to always give it their all. What I have to offer is my leadership skills, my commitment/discipline, my optimistic attitude, and my eagerness and appetite to learn, all I can from the coaches and the game in order to better myself and my team. Granted there will always be girls faster than me, stronger than me, and bigger than me in soccer, but I will always be willing and working harder  than anyone else on and off the field  in order to ensure I access my full potential and achieve my greatness.

Because I am extremely fast sometimes my brain and feet don't connect, yet with Coach Keeons training he's helped my feet and brain move at the same level, while maintaining the super fast pace.

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. All the classes I am enrolled in according with my school are honors classes.
Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. Juniors are allowed to take APs, and this year I was selected to be apart of AP Language Arts. The selection process came down to the students academia, test scores, and language arts assessment skills. I was extremely honored and happy to learn at such a higher English language level, strengthening even more my English skills in preparation for college. I am also enrolled and taking an AP Microeconomics course at MIT, which is very rigorous and exciting.

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsAcademia for me is a priority as I always strive to have the best grades, as I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Over the years I have balanced my academia and sports, always diverting all my discipline and hard work in both of these priorities. Because of that I have been accepted and am a member in The National Honors Society, as I was vice president of the junior society in the 8th grade. Other academic achievements include, the Math award granted to me in middle school, as well as the STEM, and Social Studies awards. My high school gpa and the maintenance of my gpa is my greatest academic achievement of all.
  • ActivitiesMy extracurricular activities include being the Upperclassmen Representative for Junior State of America, I am a part of Model UN, am a part of the Students in Action club and I teach Spanish to children in a bilingual daycare called Little Linguist. During Covid, I have been able to start a podcast called It's All Relative in which I discuss social issues and uncomfortable conversation in order to eradicate the stigma around certain topics. I also am in the process of creating a Non Profit, that advocates and informs young adults about consent. Lastly, I am a DJ in my free time.
