Lucia Mastellone '25 Recruiting Profile

Since I was young, sports have been my life and as I have grown that has not changed. I played practically every sport available in my community, but the only sport I've ever dreamed of playing at the collegiate level is soccer. Every time I take the field it pushes me to give it my all. Soccer allows me to take my mind off of everything else and just play a sport I love. 

I am an offensive playmaker. My role is to control the attack from the right-side.  I have rundown speed and the strength and ball skills necessary to play through defenders and go-to-goal to score or create scoring chances for my teammates. As a junior, I am a starter on my high school team that has made a two-year consecutive run at the State title. I am among the team leaders in both goals and assists.

I am goal oriented; I never give up until I give everything that I have. For me, nothing can match the thrill of being part of a team. Working hard through training, suffering the setback of a tough loss and the joy of winning and accomplishment creates a bond with my teammates that I hope to continue into my college years as a student athlete. I believe that relationships with teammates off the field also contributes to on field performance.

I am coachable, understand my role on the team, and have become an aggressive, creative and bold player. Through my experience in athletics I have learned to not fear making mistakes. As an on-field leader, I embrace the role of encouraging and helping to support my teammates, a number of whom are going on to prominent Division 1 programs.

I am a three-season student athlete and carry a 3.8/4.0 GPA. Balancing both a full-time athletic and academic schedule has helped me to develop the necessary time management skills to excel both on the field and in the classroom. I am constantly on my school’s High Honor Roll and, as a sophomore, was named Second-Team All-Conference in varsity softball and First-Team All-Conference and Defensive Player of the Year in flag football where our team was featured in a segment that aired on ABC’s Good Morning America. 

I want to attend a college where I am challenged both in the classroom and on the soccer pitch. My goal is to be an impact player on the field, helping my team to achieve its goals at the highest level of competition, developing as a student and, at the same time, making my parents proud.
