Personal Statement

Hello -

My name is Kate Hennen.  I live in Rumson, New Jersey, and enjoy spending time with friends and family, my dogs, the beach, and being on the soccer field with teammates.  I have learned so much about the sport of soccer and myself through my coaches, and am thankful to have the experience of being part of a team.

I play for Cedar Stars Monmouth 2005 Girls Academy team, as the starting Outside Back. My (04/05) GA team plays in the Northeast Group. I am also a starter for the USLW League team, Cedar Stars Rush, in the Metro League.   I have been an ADIDAS GA Talent ID selection in 2022, which is an invitation only event for top players in the GA. I also play for Rumson Fair Haven High School's Varsity Soccer team where I have been the starting Outside Back (and sometimes Forward) since my Freshman year.

I love playing for both my club and high school, and have been a top scorer and on the leaderboard for assists. I also enjoy playing my position on the team, for a few reasons.  Early on, I played as a forward, and my main job was really to focus on scoring goals.  As an outside back, I have several responsibilities to my team, keeping me very involved with every touch of the ball.  I defend our goal in every match, I'm on alert and not backing down when my position is challenged.  I want to win every ball. What I feel is my best asset, is my speed to advance all the way up the field, making attacks along the way, and moving the ball effectively and accurately, passing and crossing to players to put it in the net.  Over the past few years, I've been featured in local press/media articles as a "Player to Watch", or a "Season Standout".   For as far back as I can remember, the game of soccer has shaped my life, and brought out the best in me.  The ultimate reward from all of these years of training year-round would be to secure a position on a competitive team of talented college athletes, work with incredible coaches that want to work with me and that I'd continue to learn from,  and help the team to win games and championships for the college, fans of the university, and the sport I play for!

I participate with my high school's varsity track team, (https://nj.milesplit.com/athletes/10591430-kate-hennen ) running the 55m sprint, placed in the top 10 in New Jersey, Group II, as of 12/28/21 with a time of 7.77.  My Personal best in the 100m is 13.24 (4/30/22), and 200m best 27.30 in the A-Central Division NJ Championships (4/30/22). In the 4X200 Relay, where I am the lead-off runner, Rumson Fair Haven is ranked #1 in the state, with a 4:08.89 finish at The Shore Conference Championships, (1/27/2022).  We are ranked #1 for ALL NJ Relay Teams in Group II for the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 (athletic.net), have made it to New Balance Nationals, and qualified for placement against other top seeds at Penn Relays where we compete against international teams. (April 2022). in December 2022, we have the #1 fastest time in NJ and #4 Fastest Time in the US for the SMR Relays (12/30/22) at the NJCTC Meet. which will qualify us for Nationals in 2023.

I am an active member of several clubs in high school, including the Environmental Club, Student Government and the National Honor Society.   I have recently been inducted into our Foreign Language National Honor Society (French Language). Academically, I take all honors or AP/College classes (my favorites are math and science), and have a weighted GPA of 4.75, making the "High Honor Roll" every marking period since my freshman year.  Educational success is a top priority of mine, and I have challenged myself with the highest level of "academic rigor" in my course selections in high school.  I am working hard to become a student at a selective university where I can pursue a degree in Neuro or Biological Science.  I hope to become a doctor or surgeon, and to contribute to the well being of others in the years ahead.

Video clips, school transcripts, and articles are included with the NCSA webpage.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my profile!

(Varsity Girls 4x100m - 4th/20) Coach Keogh's Slayers had at it again here and almost duplicated last year's 3rd place. It might have gone differently had they been in a different heat but this was great. The meet timing didn't allow enough rest for Clemmie to be in there but her sub, freshman Cassedy Stypul ran great and handled the baton smoothly. As usual, Kate Hennen smoked the field on the opener. She is so good at that and ate up the staggers. Then it was Cassedy down the backstretch handing off to Megan Burns whose 100 was straight into that vicious wind. Then Chloee Dotts put her usual great finish on it and we almost caught them all. As it was, 4th in the whole state against all the bigger schools is tremendous. By the way, this team was one each of frosh, soph, junior, and senior. Hennen Stypul(F) Burns Dotts :50.06
