My name is Mia Bourla and I am a 2025 keeper and attend John Jay High School in Cross River NY. I have been playing soccer since I was in preschool. Since that first time that I first stepped on the field, I have aspired to play at the college level.
Playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my life. I love watching the college games live and on TV and can't wait for that to be me and my team. I am aggressive in goal and always give it my all. I have strong communication skills, quick reaction abilities, physical and mental toughness, and strong knowledge on the field.
As a keeper, I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates on and off the field. I’ve been told that I am extremely coachable and make sure I am always there for my teammates, family and friends on the field, in the locker room, and outside of the sport. I will ALWAYS give 110% on and off the field.
I will be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you'll find. From year round training on my soccer skills, participating in tournaments and studying games, I love, breathe and eat soccer.
Over the the last several years, I have participated in High School Soccer, High school Alpine Ski Team, Ski Racing for a local mountain and rigorous training with additional coaches which all contribute to my athleticism and clearly show my dedication, hard work and passion.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA and a consistent Scholar Athlete throughout high school. I also volunteer at local soccer practices, along with Girl Scouts and other volunteer work within my town.
I want to attend a college that will inspire me on the field and in the classroom. I can push myself and raise my potential in the classroom and on the soccer field. I am open minded and enjoy the journey. All options are something I want to consider - ultimately finding the right match at the highest level of competition possible.
I hope to become a great role model to friends, family and teammates in my community and make my parents and myself proud.
