Personal Statement

Athletics have had, and continue to have, a monumental impact on not only my character, but also my approach to being the best version of myself on and off of the field. Throughout my childhood soccer has proven to be a source of confidence and unwavering passion, both of which I‘ve used to better my playing abilities and simultaneously grow as a young woman.  Being on various teams including team captain for my high school has highlighted for me why skills such as communication, support and cooperation are crucial throughout ones lifetime as well as while competing. My academically rigorous high school constantly challenges me to commit my full effort into everything I do and has taught me that with hard work I am capable of seeing success in and outside of the classroom. The strength that I have exemplified in my academic and athletic careers has inspired me to find a school that maintains balance among it’s soccer and academic programs in order to support me on both paths in the future.  Alongside soccer I have also found  a passion for biological sciences which I hope to study in my coming years of education while continuing to build on my love for sports. Growing up in the center of New York City has shown me what it means to compete in an accelerated environment and has allowed me to surround myself with like-minded players whose talents have encouraged me to work even harder for my goals.  Playing for many years in this city has  proven to me that my ability to excel in comparison to players in my area is unique and difficult to do in a location with so many great athletes. The possibility of playing college soccer has forever motivated me to rise above the expectations of those who support me in my athletic journey, and newly found opportunities to follow through with my soccer aspirations remain a driving factor in my daily life. The chance to belong to a team has always meant more to me than simply being able to play with other girls my age but it has acted as a  foundation for forming lasting relationships with others that are unique in their nature because a common love for soccer. I hope to someday showcase my potential on a college stage while accompanied by both teammates and classmates who value the game of soccer and the importance of education of as much as I do.
