Jessica Bernstein '17 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Jessica Bernstein and I would like to introduce myself!  I am 16 years old and in the middle of my junior year at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School in Plainview, New  York.  I just finished my 4th year on the varsity soccer team (made the varsity team in 8th grade and was the assist leader).    I also became a starter mid year as an 8th grader.  I was named first team All-Conference again.   I often get matched up against some of the best players in the state.   I have attended some of the top soccer camps with college coaches in the past two summers.  I also train in the winter and play indoor soccer league.

My club team is the Merrick Force.  I am the starting mid-fielder or forward.   Our club team just finished our season in Region 1 Champions League  Division 1 and competes against the top level teams in the region.  I made the Eastern New York State ODP team.  Our Merrick Force team highlights are:

2015 Region 1 Champions League Division 1 (3rd place) (2 goals and 5 assists in 7 games)

2015 Disney Showcase Champion (Champion Flight) ( defeated Indiana state champions 2-0 and defeated a Florida NPL team 3-0)

2014 CASL Tournament Champion - undefeated  (Premier Flight)

2014 Bethesda Tournament  (Premier Flight) (3rd place but defeated ABGC Annandale United FC #5 nationally ranked team from Virginia)

2014 East Meadow Tournament Champion - ( Premier Flight)  (defeated high national ranking NPL team)

2014 Region 1 Northeast Premier League Champions (NERP)

2014 Defeated the nationally ranked #9 team in premier league

I am a very good student and take my education very seriously.  I am interested in studying dentistry.    While I am a good student, I do have a lot of friends that are important to me.  I am also involved in other activities such as

 

I love playing beach soccer.  I play every year in a tournament at Jones Beach.

I also enjoy giving back to the soccer community.  I volunteered to be an assistant referee for a charity soccer tournament to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me academically.   I am very passionate about soccer and if that works out also, that would be great!   I have a sister that is currently playing college soccer and she has successfully managed academics and soccer.   She loves it and I know I would also!
