Personal Statement
My name is Taylor Knapp and I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. My goals after high school are to advance my education and continue playing soccer at a college level.
Soccer started for me playing in a small recreation league at around 5 years old. My passion only grew when I joined a competitive club team at 8 years old. While at my first club in San Antonio, TX we trained or played soccer 5 days a week year-round. My position on the field began as center forward because of my footwork. Later due to my passing combinations and ability to anticipate plays I was moved to the midfield in order to be more involved with the total field. While I have always been great on the field, I moved into the keeper position because of my leadership, athletic ability, foot skills and composure under pressure. I continued to play keeper up until a few years ago.
Playing all of these positions has allowed me to have a great view of the game. I am usually three steps ahead of the game play. As of right now I play center back. Playing this position has allowed me to not only see the field but to defend, distribute the ball and score. I take many of the corners and free kicks as I consistently provide a very playable ball to my teammates. I was selected and started on my HS Varsity Soccer team in 7th grade. I also play Varsity Softball all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I have great leadership and have been selected a team captain for my club team since I was 12 and for Varsity since 7th grade. I play club soccer with Capital United Premier Soccer based in Clifton Park, NY. We commute about 75 minutes each way for practice multiple times a week. With all of my experience and hard work I believe a DI, DII or DIII college would fit my academic capabilities and athletics well and will continue to work hard until I find the perfect program for me.
