Hello coaches, my name is Rachel Gervais, I play right winger for Archbishop Carroll High School, and it would be a dream to play at the intercollegiate level. I am currently a junior in high school, earning a starting position on the varsity team since my freshman year. Last season, I was the lead scorer for my high school. In addition, I was selected for first team All-Conference and 2nd team Miami Valley South. It has also been a great experience to compete and travel with my club team, the Ohio Galaxies.
I thoroughly enjoy team sports, but since I am a versatile athlete, I also thrive on individual competition, participating on Carroll’s Women’s Track and Field team since I entered high school. Last year, I competed in the 4x400 relay, 4x200 relay, 200-meter dash,100-meter dash, 60-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles and triple jump, earning the Carroll Women's Track "Most Valuable Athlete" award. My performance qualified me to compete at the state level, where I podiumed in several events at the Ohio State Indoor Track Meet.
Although I enjoy competing in sports, I also understand the importance of academics. Day in and day out, I believe I demonstrate a strong work ethic, as I work diligently to maintain my grades, currently accumulating a weighted GPA of 4.38. I am also a member of the National Honor Society, and with academics in mind, I hope to attend a college that offers a strong academic foundation.
Finally, on a personal note, I am a triplet, and my other two siblings are boys, which has likely contributed to a few intangibles, like toughness and grit. But if you ask my teammates and coaches, which I hope you do, I think they will tell you the greatest asset I provide the team is positive energy and strong relationships, which I think helps build team chemistry. For relaxation, I enjoy music, as I took piano lessons for over ten years, I played the clarinet in the concert band, and I am currently learning the electric guitar. I have also been playing in a co-ed recreation softball league for over five years now. In my extracurricular school activities, I participate in the Spanish Honors Club and the Military Kids Club.
In summary, I understand the importance of being not only a team leader, but also a team player and an exemplary student-athlete. With a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a touch of natural athleticism, I am confident that I can be an asset on any soccer team.
