Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Sawyer Weybright. I am a senior in the graduating class of 2021 from Marist Catholic High School in Eugene, Oregon.
I have been involved with soccer since I was 4-years-old, when my dad enrolled me in a local athletics program. My love for soccer has grown from that moment, and I am looking forward to continuing to grow my soccer skills in college.
I have been a starting forward for 3 years on the Cottage Grove High School soccer team, beginning as a freshman. Over the last 3 years, I have improved every year, earning the awards: 2017 Rookie of the Year, 2018 2nd Team All League, and 2019 1st Team All League. During my 2019 season, I scored 21 goals, made 9 assists, and had 6 hat tricks. Overall, my team ended our fall season with 50 goals total.
I have also been a part of the Eugene Timbers Futbol Club since 2015. My club team is very hardworking and extremely competitive. In the summer of 2019, my team took 1st place in the Adidas Clash at the Border Tournament in Portland, Oregon. Prior to the Covid-19 shut down, my team was at the top of our league and we had a good shot at winning in the President's Cup Tournament in Portland, Oregon.
My academics are very important to me. I am a hardworking student, currently earning a 3.66 GPA. My aspiration is to attend a college that will challenge me academically, as well as, athletically. I believe that being a part of a strong college soccer team will help me be involved in my school's community and feel more connected to my college peers.
