My freshman season of high school, my varsity team was the champions of our section for the first time in over a decade. As a varsity starter, I felt pressure to always be my best. The seniors and juniors next to me on the field pushed me to my max. After winning our last section game, all of the hard work was worth it. Playing the game has given me pure joy and exhilaration since I was a toddler. It has helped me to mature and grow into who I am today.
From the beginning of my soccer career, I have challenged myself by playing with older girls. Until middle school, I played on my older sisters team. When I began playing club, I played an age group up as well. Being the youngest on the team was always a major motivator. I refused to ever use my age as an excuse. Outside of soccer, I spend the majority of my time completing school work, volunteering, working, and enjoying time with my family. In school, I am a year advanced in multiple classes, which also plays a role in my comfort around older girls. I'm a member of both Student Government and Interact club. We have pen pals with younger students, started a small library, volunteer for Relay for Life, and do much more in the clubs. On weekends and during the summer, I pick berries and work in the store of the farm that my family owns and operates. At home, we always make time to catch up with each other's busy lives and spend quality time together. I believe that it is important to be around the people you care about, whether it's family, friends, or a team.
