Personal Statement
When I was 4 years old I began playing soccer and because I enjoyed the sport so much, I started playing club soccer at age 8. Now, as a sophomore, I am starting my sixth season playing for the Beadling Soccer Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For the past four years, I had the honor of being team captain. This past season, we competed in the USYS National League. This season we will compete in the Girls Academy League. I am the center midfielder, but I play forward occasionally for Beadling. For my local Central Valley High School team, I play forward. I also play defense on the East Region ODP Team. I am a versatile player on the field and feel comfortable playing any position.
I am very competitive and determined to always strive towards improving my soccer skills and athleticism. Academically, I maintain a 4.0 GPA and achieve highest or high honors status each semester. As Captain, I encourage and support my teammates I stand up for them both on and off the field while consistently demonstrating good sportsmanship. At 5 ft. 9 in. my speed, stability, and strength help me possess the ball, distribute passes and score goals. Furthermore, I’ve been told by several of my soccer coaches that I have an excellent “soccer I.Q.”
Playing soccer over the past eleven years has helped me to develop into the person and player I am today. I’ve learned the importance of teamwork, flexibility, and commitment while developing my leadership skills and building new friendships. I am passionate to achieve my goal of playing soccer at the collegiate level, so I may continue to grow as a leader and teammate while being continuously challenged. I am confident these experiences will help me as I develop into adulthood and in my future career path.
