I have an overwhelming passion for the game of soccer. I have been playing for over twelve years in a highly competitive arena, and the atmosphere of excitement it creates along with the team camaraderie makes soccer a staple and a need in my life and is the reason why I continue to seek the countless rewards this game offers.
I come from a small club that practices on a grass field, behind a church, where the lights need to be manually cranked up for each practice. We are not a well-known club, and although I do not have a history of playing on an ECNL or ODP team, I compete with some of the country’s best, while playing one year above my age group. My club team, FC Providence Lightning 03, for being a small club, is ranked 3rd in Pennsylvania, and we are not a team to be taken lightly. As one of the first members of this club, I know the value of hard work, determination, true grit, and sacrifice. Usually being viewed as the underdogs, I know what it takes to come out on top, and I will take on any challenge with determination, tenacity, and the will to win. As the starting center back on both my high school and club team, I am a vocal, strong, calculated leader who not only understands the game but understands the importance of a strong team dynamic. I view my teammates as family; we play together, laugh together, and grow together. I take pride in my play, both on and off the field, and strive to be a leader to my family, teammates, friends, and classmates.
The variety and abundance of activities I participate in-- from being a high academic achieving student, soccer player, track runner, Girl Scout, and dedicated employee-- keep me very busy, but they have also taught me how to properly manage my time. I take my academics very seriously and set high standards for myself because I know what I am capable of achieving. My experiences throughout high school will allow me to effectively and successfully manage my next level of academic and athletic endeavors.
