Katherine Van Kirk '22 Recruiting Profile

Just being near a soccer field brings me joy. After playing for years in youth leagues, I joined the Penn United club team in 5^th grade. The team did not have a goalie, and I volunteered when they asked. At first, it was hard communicating with the defense and the team sometimes blamed me for a loss. But that didn’t bother me and after a while, I really grew to enjoy my position.

The position of goalie allows me a special view of my favorite sport. I can use this perspective to help my teammates organize so we can have to best chance to win.  I like being a leader and am not intimidated by the pressure of protecting the goal.

When I moved to South Carolina because of my dad’s health, I took a few years off of club play to get settled in my new school and home. But my new school presented me with lots of new opportunities in goal (as my profile shows).

I am a hardworking person who loves team sports and the comradery they entail. I am passionate about soccer and want to improve every day to help my team.  I can bring a new passion and work ethic to your team so please contact me if you have any further questions.
